DIOXIN ISOMERS IN 2, 4 D HERBICIDE IN CANADA. 2007. Jorma Jyrkkanen
DIOXINS IN 2,4-d IN CANADA.2007. JORMA JYRKKANEN jjyrkkanen76@outlook.com
Dioxin isomers and levels in 2,4-D herbicide. The dioxin 2,3,7,8-TCDD has been reclassified as a Class 1 Human Carcinogen. Isomers behave similarly to 2,3,7,8-TCDD but differ in scale of effect. They are called TCDDEQ’s. Toxic effects range from cancer to endocrine to immune to wasting disease. Dioxins make men less masculine and women less feminine, and we are all exposed to them.

Commentary
The revelation of dioxins in 2,4-D, has profound ramifications for public trust in government and corporations. It shatters that trust. Firstly, governments have defended 2,4-D against public appeals claiming its safety, and have been active advocates and participants in its use. They have also covered up their knowledge of its true toxic nature. Quite simply, they lied to the public. The government information sheets on 2,4-D had no mention of dioxin contaminants. Secondly, this is no isolated incident. Other pesticides contain harmful and unkown contaminants. I found carcinogens when I examined glyphosate based herbicides. Another chap examined rotenone in detail and found a number of undeclared contaminants. I demonstrate through my inerts list and contaminants html that this is the tip of a toxic ice-berg and we must wake up to the fact that government and industry are not looking after our health or the environmental health adequately. They need to be reigned in and put under a public watch-dog like you and I. We, the people, the end co-recipients with other high-end ecosystem partners amongst the other species, in the food chain of these poisons, need to reject the system of management now in place where environmental health is progressively compromised for the sake of short term economic expediency and cumulatively degraded. The problem of government mismanagement of toxins arises from a defect in the system of management. Government is in a binary role of both advocate of industrial growth and protector of the health and environment. This is a fundamental conflict of interest. One cannot do both without incurring liability so to protect themselves, they have become secretive. In that environment of secrecy, all manner of harmful things can occur like the massive accumulation of toxic ‘Inerts’. This system needs a fundamental over-haul. Environmental protection needs to be made independent of the national economies and put into an independent global trust.
