Boron Creation by Cosmic Ray Spallation May have contributed to Higher Tetrapod Evolution 2021-04-07

To get from first chordates, among which Boron is essential, to high forms of life like Hylonomus and Mammal like reptiles and eventually us was either because of cosmic ray nucleosynthesis of micronutrient boron by spallation or a contributory addition to solar generation by this process in a star and planet forming regions of the universe. The question arises; do we owe our existence to cosmic rays or how much do we owe it?
Boron metabolism and Animals. Boron has an impact on skeletal metabolism, thus it affects bone growth and compositional properties of soft tissues in animals and humans. Boron rich diets have a beneficial impact on bone calcification and maintenance in mammals, central nervous system functions, as well as have a positive role in maintaining structural integrity and functions of cell membranes. Dietary borate improves the metabolic status of cattle during periparturient period by stimulating glucose metabolism and limiting lipolysis intensity. In humans an increased boron consumption has been associated with a decreased incidence of several types of cancers (like lung, cervical or breast cancer).
