French rat studies have showed breast cancer (BC) is one outcome of GMO pesticide exposure. This naturally raises the question is it responsible for some proportion of human breast cancers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Njd0RugGjAg&feature=youtu.be
I looked at Uruguay which had 24 BC deaths per 100k population, among the highest in the world. What is their GMO exposure?
Uruguay has 75% of croplands dedicated to Corn and Soy and 80% of those use GMO. This on the face of it looks like a smoking pistol.
I have found carcinogens 1,4-dioxane (N. Irving Sax, 1981. Cancer Causing Chemicals) in a glyphosate herbicide, Vision used in Canada in the past for forestry uses. Japanese doctors studying Roundup suicides found a surfactant, polyoxyethyleneamine (POEA) a suspected human carcinogen (Sax, 1981).
Taken together, these data lean towards affirmation of Koch's postulates in linking causality. These findings suggests a GMO ban until proof of safety is established by independent epidemiology.
My thanks to Lisa Alba for raising my curiosity in examination of this issue more closely.
