What effect will the evolution of superbugs have on other species not privy to medicine Feb. 4th, 2009 at 7:12 PM If We Win Against Superbugs, What Then? Related Tags : culture, medicine, illness What effect will our war on bugs have on other animal and plant species in the wild? 4 February 2009 If we win against superbugs by superior strategies for antibiotics and epidemic management, and stop them even when they have become the most virulent imaginable, what do the other species do that haven't got this same medical infrastructure to call upon. Lets not forget that many bugs that we fight are zoonoses, that is they also affect animals. We are making them more virulent and therefore more dangerous to other species. They do not have the luxury of drugs, except maybe for our dogs and cats. What about wildlife? What will this scenario do for them? Think about it.
